Sunset Salutations

As the sun sets on another enchanting season of Yoga in Central Park, I wanted to share a little piece of my heart with you all. At the beginning of this year, I made a promise to craft a weekly blog post, and truth be told, this is my first in a month. Life's twists and turns have a way of steering us off course, don't they? But, my dear friends, I believe in embracing the journey and not dwelling on the detours.

For the past six months, showing up for you every day that weather allowed has been one of my most cherished priorities. Our shared moments of stretching, laughter, and finding inner peace have woven a tapestry of joy in my heart. And can you believe it? We've celebrated 267 yoga classes since May—a testament to our collective dedication and love for the practice.

As we gracefully transition from the vibrant hues of autumn to the hush of winter, I find myself in need of a pause, a moment to rest and rejuvenate. Just as spring relies on winter's embrace, I too am preparing to hibernate, knowing that this period of rest is essential for our future blooms together. We blossomed in spring, flourished through summer, and danced in the rain come fall. Now, it's time to honor the winter, a season of quiet reflection and replenishment.

And speaking of seasons, next week, Andrey, Alex, and I embark on a journey to Mexico. Amidst the sun-drenched sands, I'll be adding a touch of our Central Park spirit with some zoom yoga sessions. Fear not, my cherished yogis—I carry you in my heart, even in this sun-kissed interlude.

In these moments of reflection as I prepare to step away momentarily, I am reminded of the beauty of impermanence. Just as the sun sets, giving way to darkness, so too do our lives ebb and flow through seasons of growth and rest. The yoga practice has taught me to seek balance in all things, to honor the need for stillness as much as movement.

During this pause, I encourage you to explore your own personal journeys. Dive deep within, uncover hidden treasures, and prepare for the renewal that awaits us in the coming year. Whether it be through a winter retreat, journaling, or simply taking moments of solitude in nature, remember that self-care and self-reflection are vital in nurturing our spirits.

As I take my leave for a brief period, I leave you with a promise—a promise to return, rejuvenated and ready to guide you through the next chapter of Yoga in Central Park. The love and dedication that flows through our yoga community is a force that cannot be dimmed by distance or time. It is the thread that binds us, transcending seasons and boundaries.

So, my dear yogis, as we bid farewell to this enchanting season and brace ourselves for the hush of winter, know that the spirit of Yoga in Central Park lives on. It resides in the space between breaths, in the memories of our laughter, and in the warmth of our intentions. And when the time is right, we shall come together once again, under the open sky, ready to embrace the endless possibilities that await us.

Until then, take this time to nourish your souls, to embrace the stillness, and to remember the beauty that lies within every twist and turn of this remarkable journey we call life.

Namaste, my dear friends. May your winter be filled with peace, reflection, and the gentle whispers of love.

Namaste,
Shannon
