We Need Both - Happiness Now & Excitement About the Future

In this journey, I remind myself that I am worthy of love and respect, even if I don't have all the answers. It's easy to get caught up in the mindset of feeling inadequate because I haven't achieved everything I want or because I haven't figured it all out yet. But I've realized that life is a constant exploration, and I don't need to have all the answers to be deserving of love and respect.

I embrace the fact that I am a work in progress. Every mistake, every stumble, is an opportunity for growth and learning. It's through these experiences that I gain wisdom and become better equipped to navigate the challenges that come my way. I don't let fear of failure hold me back; instead, I embrace it as a necessary part of the journey.

When doubt creeps in, I remind myself that I am pursuing what truly brings me joy– teaching yoga, particularly teaching outdoor yoga in Central Park. It may not fit society's definition of a "real job," but it aligns with my purpose and passion. I believe that life is meant to be lived fully in the present, and I am committed to living my truth now, rather than waiting for some distant future.

Yoga has been my guiding light throughout this process. It has transformed my life in profound ways, nurturing my mind, body, and soul. Every time I step onto my mat, I am reminded of my own worthiness. The practice of contentment allows me to embrace who I am and where I am, while still pursuing my dreams. It's a delicate balance of finding happiness in the present moment and harboring excitement for what the future holds.

So, as I continue on this journey, I hold onto the belief that I am deserving of love and respect, regardless of how far I am on the path or how many unanswered questions I have. I embrace the process and the beauty of growth. And as I share my knowledge and passion with others, I hope to inspire them to recognize their own worthiness and empower them to embrace their own journey, no matter what uncertainties lie ahead.

Big promises, I know. And when I doubt myself, I remember the moments that shaped my journey.

  • At the age of 18, I made a bold decision to pursue yoga teacher training, despite my lingering doubts and insecurities. Countless times, I had promised myself that I would find my practice first or become more deserving. But in that moment, I decided not to wait any longer for readiness to come knocking on my door. And you know what? It all worked out.

  • Four years later, at 22, I embarked on a life-changing adventure to travel the world, immersing myself in different cultures while sharing the gift of yoga. Anxiety gripped me as I boarded my first flight to Sri Lanka, not knowing what lay ahead. But I harnessed my courage and embraced the unknown. For six months, I traversed Southeast Asia, navigating unfamiliar territories and job opportunities in every town I encountered. And guess what? It all worked out.

  • At 23, I hosted my very first yoga retreat in Morocco. Despite the nerves that coiled around me like a tightening rope, I pushed through my insecurities. And once again, it worked out.

  • A year later, at 25, I ventured to Jordan, a country foreign to me in every way possible. There, I organized a retreat surrounded by a herd of therapy horses. Delving headfirst into a culture and community vastly different from my life in New York City, I found myself without any established connections or even an address. Yet, with unwavering trust in the universe, I relied on a taxi driver named Ali to lead me "home." As fate would have it, the global pandemic erupted, leaving me stranded in Jordan for an entire year. In the midst of the Wadi Rum desert, I resided in a humble Bedouin tent alongside my horses. With nothing but my yoga practice and faith in the universe, I persevered. And against all odds, it all worked out.

  • Six months thereafter, I embarked on a new chapter of my journey, heading to Ecuador to work with indigenous medicines in the depths of the jungle. I fully comprehended that this endeavor had the potential to transform not just my life but also my very being. And, once again, it all worked out.

  • As I reached 26, I rekindled my teaching in Central Park, humbly grateful if a single individual joined me for practice. But now, at 27, my classes are consistently sold out every weekend. Guess what, it worked out! See the pattern? …it all works out.

The doubts that often plague me fade away as I reflect on all the incredible moments that led me to where I am today. Each leap of faith, every encounter with the unknown, and all the risks I so courageously embraced - they all worked out.

In life, there will always be doubts and uncertainties. But whenever I find myself questioning my path, I remember these monumental milestones. They remind me that no matter the challenges or the fears that beset me, the universe has a way of aligning everything just right.

So, yes, big promises indeed. And with each passing experience, I am reminded that when we step beyond our comfort zones and wholeheartedly embrace the unknown, the possibilities are endless.
